Ibuki vase

“Do you feel a breath of life?
Life grows towards the sky. Like a spiral that turns.”

Ibuki is one of the most important projects in my journey and was born as a research into the boundary between function and form, between craftsmanship and contemporary design. The vases of the Ibuki series are characterized by spirals: objects conceived to dialogue with space and with flowers, while maintaining a clear design identity.

The spiral lines and controlled volumes evoke natural growth and a vital breath, translating the movement of matter into an essential and harmonious form. The woods used — walnut, cherry, oak, cedar — always sourced from my local area, carry with them time, memory, and the imperfections of nature, transformed through a rigorous and conscious process.

Alongside Ibuki, a freer and more sculptural research develops, made in fig wood. These vases, more deformed and instinctive, are not part of the Ibuki series: they belong to a more artistic realm, where function moves away from design to make room for a more radical expressive experimentation.

The Ibuki project has also developed thanks to the collaboration with designer Yusuke Taguchi and has been presented in international exhibition contexts, including Tokyo, in dialogue with flowers and natural elements.
